MD6 – Favre’s goal factory climbs to top spot

What a difference a couple of weeks can make! With 4 wins out of 4, Bayern looked to be running away with the Bundesliga as they have done for the last six seasons. But following their draw at home to Augsburg last week, they then succumbed to Hertha in Berlin on Friday two make it two games on the bounce without a win… almost unheard in recent years. The 2-0 loss left the door open to Borussia Dortmund to jump up to first place if they could beat Bayer Leverkusen away. They duly obliged, albeit the hard way, needing to turn around a two goal deficit to eventually win 4-2.

With Augsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt winning by 4 goals to 1, Schalke claiming their first win – and points – of the season, and Leipzig winning 2-1 away at Julian Nagelsmann’s Hoffenheim, there was a lot for us to cover in our matchday summary.

In our In Depth section, we discuss Germany winning the chance to host the European Championships in 2024 following their 12-4 win against Turkey’s bid in the vote. We debate the reasons behind the choice and what it means for Germany in the long run. It also gives us an opportunity to talk about the fan protests in recent weeks, with many supporters unhappy with DFB for this and a variety of other reasons.

As always, a very special thanks to our friends ‘Phre The Eon’ for the new theme music. Anyone interested can find them on Facebook.
