MD16 – Fortuna upset BVB, Bayern and Monchengladbach take advantage

This week saw the season’s second Englische Woche in the Bundesliga, and it certainly threw up some surprises. Nobody expected Fortuna Dusseldorf to beat Borussia Dortmund, but that is exactly what they did. Dodi Lukebakio and Jean Zimmer scored for Fortuna, with only Paco Alcacer striking for BVB to make it 2-1.

Monchengladbach and Bayern duly took advantage of their rival’s loss, winning 2-0 and 1-0 against Nuremberg and Leipzig respectively. The lead is now down to six points. With the two Borussias facing off in matchday 17, the gap could be cut even further.

Wolfsburg are also making a march up the table. A 2-0 win against Stuttgart means they have now taken 13 points from a possible 15. Bruno Labbadia continues to take the deserved credit as his side stake a claim for a Europa League place.

As ever, we cover all of the action for you. No In Depth once again in this episode, but with matchday 17 just around the corner, we’ll be back again soon.

As always, a very special thanks to our friends ‘Phre The Eon’ for the theme music. Anyone interested can find them on Facebook.
